Company Press Release

WavePhore Newscast Records 53% User Increase In Third Quarter 1997

DALLAS, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- WavePhore Newscast, a division of WavePhore, Inc. (Nasdaq:WAVO), and the fastest
growing business intelligence services provider, today announced a 53% growth in its user base during the third quarter of
1997. WavePhore Newscast now serves 158,000 corporate business professionals worldwide.

The addition of 55,000 new users during the third quarter are comprised of executives, managers and professional staff at 14
major corporations which selected WavePhore Newscast over other well known vendors in the online information services
market. Among the corporations opting for WavePhore Newscast during the past quarter are 3Com, Rhone Poulenc, Dain
Bosworth, John Nuveen, and Experian.

Most significant is the growth in the average number of users per corporate site. WavePhore Newscast's average number of
individual users per subscribing company is 1,128 -- which is believed to be more than three times higher than WavePhore
Newscast's nearest competitor. This statistic indicates the rising trend for corporations to utilize WavePhore Newscast services
as a central tool in their enterprise-wide knowledge management strategies.

''We are particularly gratified by our quarterly results, not only because of the sheer increase in the number of business
professionals we now serve, but also because the great performance was accomplished with a much smaller sales force than
our competitors have,'' said Peter White, WavePhore Newscast executive vice president of sales. ''It's a clear statement from
senior information management executives. Our superior content, our profiling capabilities, our scaleability in adapting to
virtually any sized enterprise, and our ability to work closely with customers on their intranet and extranet systems, all add up
to the superior service choice. For us, the third quarter means we've arrived.''

WavePhore Newscast delivers business news gathered from more than 3,000 publishing, broadcasting, and financial and
government data sources -- along with real-time profiling filters that enable each subscribing company and individual user to
create a customized information stream -- to corporations for enterprise-wide use. WavePhore Newscast offers its information
services via the Web and Extranets and with seamless integration into corporate intranets. The Web-based service is known as
Newscast Today.
