Fujitsu Siemens Computers May Stop Production in Finland 12/14/99 11:39:00 PM Source: Bloomberg News
Helsinki, Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the joint venture between Japan's Fujitsu Ltd. and Germany's Siemens AG, may stop making computers in its Kilo, southern Finland-based factory, reported newspaper Kauppalehti, citing Mike Campbell, head of human resources at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. Fujitsu Siemens will concentrate production at its two German factories, situated in Soemmerdan and Augsburg. Halting production in Kilo would leave 450 people out of work, unless another company takes over the production; the company declined to name a buyer, though said such negotiations are on the way.
Fujitsu Siemens had a 14 percent share of the European computer market, second to Compaq Computer Corp., in the first nine-months of the year. (Kauppalehti 12/15 p.5; KPLT to view Kauppalehti's web site.) |
