Marathon Gold Corp T.MOZ announced September 13 channel-sample gold assays from veins to the southwest of the J Frank Zone on its 100%-owned Valentine Lake Project, Newfoundland.

The results were:

4.73 grams per tonne gold over 24.68 metres
(including 20.54 g/t over 3.11 metres)
(including 11.22 g/t over 4.2 metres)
0.95 g/t over 4.34 metres
0.19 g/t over 10.38 metres
2.51 g/t over 4.45 metres

Valentine Lake, which comprises more than 20,000 hectares, is located 57 kilometres south of Buchans. It can be reached from gravel and paved roads off the Trans-Canada Highway. According to a March 2012 43-101 resource estimate, the Leprechaun Gold Deposit within Valentine Lake contains (at a 0.5 g/t cutoff) a measured and indicated resource of 6.45 million tonnes grading 2.05 g/t gold, for 424,000 ounces and an inferred resource of 5.74 million tonnes grading 1.65 g/t gold, for 305,000 ounces
