I wish someone would also point out that the biotech companies didn't live up to expectations either. I guess most investors these days weren't in with the biotech craze... I actually owned some stock in synergen so I remember. The stocks were bid way up and then when the clinical trials completed it turned out a lot of these new drugs didn't work. It was a premature bubble to escalate that way prior to efficacy tests but if the drugs had panned out the stocks may not have crashed like that. Completely different than the internet which is under-hyped according to that Cisco study - LOL.
