I wrote back to Diane Francis and the Post with the following letter

The story about 50 Afghanis and Pakistanis arriving at Pearson airport
last weekend and being released into North America after minimal
processing is beyond belief. I've told and shown the story to coworkers
and my daughter and they are amazed and dumbfounded. We are at war with
the Taliban of Afghanistan and Al Queda for goodness sake. When 150
Chinese arrive by boat in B C they are detained until processed. The
different treatments of these groups is surely racist. Perhaps it's a
money thing. If you can afford to arrive by plane you are a better class
of refugee than someone who arrives by boat.
What will out American neighbours think of this story? In fact is it
true because I've not seen it reported anywhere else and it is so
incredible? Of course too, there is no sitting of the House of Commons
where questions can be asked and bring this frightening occurence into
public view.
