L.L. Knickerbocker Signs License Agreement with Cicely Tyson For Jewelry Line
The Krasner Group and Star of Theater, Film and Television To Create Line Intended for Sale on QVC
LAKE FOREST, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 1997-- The L.L. Knickerbocker Co. Inc. (Nasdaq:KNIC - news), through its subsidiary, Krasner Group Inc., signed a license agreement with Cicely Tyson to design and manufacture a line of jewelry intended for sale on QVC.
The line is expected to launch in spring 1998.
Tyson's career spans decades of theater, film and television. Tyson was a pioneer in an industry that was void of African-American role models. She continues to set standards of excellence that have made her a national treasure, receiving nine NAACP Image Awards.
Her many prominent performances include Harriet Tubman in the televised special, ''A Woman Called Moses,'' for which she won the International Nymph Award as best actress, presented by Prince and Princess Rainier.
She received an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Binta, the mother of Kunta Kinte in the award-winning miniseries ''Roots.'' For her performance in ''The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman,'' Tyson received an unprecedented two Emmy Awards.
Tyson's list of feature film credits includes ''Sounder,'' for which she received the National Society of Film Critics and the New York Film Critics Award, in addition to an Academy Award nomination. Others include ''Fried Green Tomatoes'' and a recent starring role in the major motion picture, ''Hoodlum.''
Tyson won an Emmy Award for her performance in the CBS miniseries, ''The Oldest Living Confederate Widow,'' starring Donald Sutherland and Anne Bancroft. She received a seventh Emmy nomination for her co-starring role in the television series ''Sweet Justice'' with Melissa Gilbert.
Other television credits include ''The Road To Galveston'' starring Piper Laurie, a USA Event Movie, and ''Blessed Assurance,'' directed by Peter Bogdanovich for CBS. Joining the ranks of many distinguished Hollywood celebrities, Tyson recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
