If you were in surgery and the power went out and you died, would you have the same attitude?
How about if you were in plane and the entire air traffic control system went down?

I think we have the right to expect that the system will be there unless there is a MAJOR calamity.

Power outages and software upgrades do not qualify as excuses in my mind.

Responsible business owners incure the expense of insure against exactly this type of problem.
They buy backup generators. They buy backup systems.

They test - and restest before a software upgrade.

Blaming the power company doesn't hack it.
And claiming that it was the first outage in seven years was a joke!
And pretending it affected only 5% of the customers was a lie.
What was the excuse the other two days this week?

ETrade in the last week has shown itself to be amateurish.

As someone else here suggested - their stockholders should be worried about the liabilities that their poor management is exposing them to.
