In addition, Stephen R. Dattels has joined the board of directors and has been appointed co chairman of the company. Mr. Dattels is an experienced senior mining executive who was formerly the executive vice-president, corporate finance, and a director of Barrick Gold Corporation in the early 1980s, and was the founder of International Gold Resources Corporation (IGR) which developed a gold mine (Bibiani) in Ghana, West Africa. IGR was sold to Ashanti Goldfields in an all-stock transaction valued at the time of the offer at around $130-million (Canadian). Mr. Dattels has been involved in numerous other mining transactions internationally and is currently chairman of International Pursuit Corporation, which has recently acquired (subject to various approvals) two U.S. gold mines producing in excess of 200,000 ounces of gold annually. The company has also appointed Endeavour Financial Corporation to provide advisory and consulting services to EPM with respect to its strategic direction and corporate development. |
