Guess you didn't read it very carefully: *fermenters to produce hydrogen for observation balloons*. (Out in the sticks, far from roads or infrastructure, Iraq *regularly* launched military observation balloons that would drift into Iran, their enemy neighbor. The balloons needed gas.)

It always struck me as CRAZY that anyone could get away with calling those trailors "bio-weapons labs", when they DID NOT have any containment at ALL.

If you had tried to grow some bad-ass biological in the big fermenter you would have been DEAD before you could get around to working on an extraction. :)

Guess some large percentage of the public can always be relied upon to be gullible and scientifically illiterate --- and willing to swallow whatever story gets put out by 'the authorities'. (So there was at least SOME 'angle' to putting such a story out, some degree of political gain... no matter how ridiculous it was, it STILL WORKED for political gain.)
