But a Fuel cell does not provide the locomotion an electic motor does. A Fuel cell is just a source of electric energy to power an electric motor. So you would need to know the efficiency of the motor too. Anything else is misleading. 100% of a fuels energy is used in an Air_fuel combustion engine but ~80% is wasted as heat and friction. eff of FC car = FC eff * Motor EFF est = .70 * .30 = 21% >>>each gallon of methanol yields half the calories as a gallon of gasoline, then the fuel cell would cost the same to run as a gasoline engine if the fuel cell were twice as efficient. <<<<
