If society is going to spend a million bucks or more keeping this guy locked up, I think the taxpayers should at least have a sense that they're getting what they want for their money. You keep wanting to make this a win-lose gender war. You don't know that the taxpayers aren't footing the bill for the shrink she needs because she feels victimized by society when he's not prosecuted. She may have her medical care covered by the taxpayers and it may end up costing just as much as jailing him. Maybe the taxpayers would rather pay for his jailing than her shrink. Shit happens. It happens quite a bit at the margins. Which means it's best to stay clear of the margins.
