A good chunk of the professional work I do deals with cybersecurity and privacy. Way way before Russian interference made headlines, I was getting chatter and notices about it in professional circles. I told a few people on SI about them via PM and I consider it one of Obama's greatest failures to not have addressed that. Obama was too passive on many critical items. The interference was real and significant. It's portrayal in the media is colored based on what channel you listen to. And for the record, The morning after Trump got elected I posted the poem "Democracy (is coming to the USA" on SI. So my opinion of the Russian interference has zilch to do with my opinion of Trump. Those are the facts. As to what to do about them, I admire your approach. It would be the right thing to do. But it is not how the US foreign policy machine is structured. As a nations, Americans are very violent and the civil solution you proposed would have been completely out of character.
