Haim, I do not eat,use or play with equipment that's manufacturing semi's

This is true, but:

1. The semi equipment companies and the semi companies can be out of phase re good times and bad. E.g. the equipment companies could get a lot of business in year N, followed by good times for the semi companies in year N+1 as they crank out mucho chips built on the equipment they bought in N. Then, there may not be much equipment buying for a year or two.

2. It came out that the equipment companies have a much, much higher percentage of their business in the far east, vis a vis semi companies. This is because many of the types of equipment made by USA companies have no counterparts in the far east. There are a loooot of semi companies over there needing AMAT etc. equipment. So, the far east tanking should affect the equip people much more.

3. TI was way overbought.

I still don't think stocks of companies in the two areas should/will always track each other. What's more in common is that a lot of the street may perceive them, or all tech stocks, as the same.

Be nice? Oh all right.

Tony
