Bob,
Some info re: circuit breakers

If market goes down 350 points from previous day's close trading is suspended for 30 min.
If market goes down 550 points from previous day's close trading is suspemded for 1 hour.

My previous comments re: circuit breakers mistakenly referred to trading curbs. As well intended as they may be, closing trading may just give more time for people to submit sell orders. What then? No upticks for sure.

As far as I know the circuit breakers pertain to NYSE only.

Re: Arch Crawford
His investment letter, Crawford Perspectives, is ranked #1 by Hulbert for market timing. His call on the spring top was actually one of two dates he pulled up. One in Feb. and one in Mar. The Mar. date turned out to be "on the money". For those interested, Crawford is out of Tuscon.

Re: Prudent Bear
I asked fund manager, Tice, about his shorts getting called back by their original owners in a major selloff. His reply was that when the market tanks there are plenty of (alternate) shares available to short with. I am not quite comfortable with that answer but, hey, this guy is a professional, right?
Onward.
Mark

PS: Whoa, I think this post belongs over on the Big Kahuna thread. Oh well.
