The January 20, 1997 Infoworld has an article: AGP to raise chip performance:

"The Intel initiated AGP is gaining support among device suppliers as a complement to Talisman and MMX in high-performance graphics applications. AGP-capable core-logic and graphics chips will be sampled this quarter, with volume production in the second half of 1997. AGP adds dedicated access from a graphic chip to main memory for higher transfer rates. Intel will offer core-logic and graphics chips in 1997, according to Jon Khazam, marketing director for graphics programs at Intel. The Intel 440LX chip set will provide AGP support in Klamath MMX Systems. That chip and a 3-D graphics chip codeveloped with Lockheed Martin's Real 3D company will ship in the second half of 1997."

The article went on and mentioned TRID, CRUS, SIII, and Via Technologies will have products supporting AGP. CRUS's Laguna3D-AGP will sample this quarter and ship in volume in the second half of 1997.

I believe I read on this thread before that CHPS is also in the Intel-Lockheed Martin team in developing the Intel 3-D chip. Is this a potential threat to S3 in the second half of 1997? This is probably not news to many of you on this thread. Would someone please enlighten me the effect of this development on S3? Would this suggest that you should also have a stake in CHPS?

Thanks in advance for any response.
