Not much anymore, C. Kids have a way of slowing you down. Went mountain biking in St. Maarten in March, scheduled on a 4 man fishing expedition a ways up the Amazon in October.
In a past life I had a better adrenalin flow. Highlight was probably an 8000 mile camping trip across southern, eastern, and central Africa. Climbed Kilimanjaro, bathed in croc-infested rivers, visited the mountain gorillas twice, had fun and not-so-fun encounters with every mammal and reptile you can imagine, bribed a few border patrols, befriended more than a few blackmarketeers.
Other highlights include trekking Nepal (hired a 16 year old Sherpa as a guide and took off walking), backpacking China after it was opened to individual travellers (tough), sightseeing Burma from the back of a local man's pickup truck for a week, local transportation around India including Kashmir, volcano climbing in Bali, windsurfing Capetown, water skiing in the Indian Ocean (pulled two ribs out of my sternum), the great train trip from Guayaquil to Quito, scuba diving the Caymans several times, etc. Hopefully I'll travel unencumbered again one day, although I'm sure I won't have the physical skills to do everything I would like. I'll bet the bulls in Pamplona would have my butt for breakfast. Ce la vie.
Counting on you helping me make some money Calypso, so I can quit life and resume LIFE. |
