Sun Microsystems this week gave notice that it intends to go after the multiplatform, open system storage market in a big way, unleashing an aggressive storage strategy aimed at transforming Sun into one of the top three storage suppliers by 2001. Prices start at $35,000 for the A5000 array, $89,000 for the A3000 and $286,000 for the A7000. A1000 pricing will be announced in March. --- Cha Ching
