Those who think $45 is unattainable are engaging in poor mouthing. I bought AAPL at 21 and was laughed at as it dropped to 12. Who's laughing now? Same with ORCL. Point is ORCL has met the challenge, and come through with significant and impressive results. If sales were up alot, but revenues were not, it could be a result of several factors. None of them particularly bad. For example, for the purposes of showing good license sales results, they could be saying that the number of licenses sold is up, but the revenue may not be reportable for another quarter or 2. I do that with my sales group all the time. Another factor may be price cutting in the face of rapidly depreciating currencies, or increased competition. If MSFT represents a real threat (and they may), then aggressive pricing will hurt ORCL in the short term, but expand their base of clients so that they can make money on service contracts down the road, effectively preventing MSFT from making real inroads into their realm. I believe $45 is easily and readily attainable, and will occur very soon (3-6 months). I held on to the stock expecting good results, and got them. Ellison is more effective than people give him credit. |
