Carl, I don't know if you saw the news, but after today, Alpha has pretty much the same status as CPU of the future that Rambus has as memory of the future. news.cnet.com . , or more explicitly: Compaq puts eggs into Intel basket, plans to kill Alpha by 2004 siliconstrategies.com It'll be a little harder to migrate Alpha's installed base, and Rambus might be dead. dead. dead before 2004, but in terms of the march of technology, they're pretty equivalent at this point.
