re "Destruction from the inside and MSFT's
criticalmass...

Microsoft should care not to make any mis-
steps with W98 and NT5...these core products
are so important--I'm guessing they're 80% of
future revenues. We know that the stocks trades
on its growth rate, so they cant afford not to
get everybody to upgrade from W95 to 98 or NT.

I wonder if Microsoft should reign in how
much they spend on MSN, games, misc software,
and some of those other distractions. I would
not be too agressive with CE--sneak in the back
door with that one, make it an extension of W98,
make sure peoples palm top devices work WITH
folks PC's. Maybe CE could be in VCR's someday,
with home videos edited on your PC and squirted
right back to the VCR. I'd buy that.

I guess it all comes down to whether or not
they're content to own OS's or own the world.
They should junk MSNBC--that is just one long
running advert that they want to own the world.
In fact, Microsoft shouldn't even advertise.
Spend that money on carefully directed mailers.
