Noranda Inc. has
acquired an additional 3,048,580 common shares of Falconbridge Ltd. through
a normal course purchase on the Toronto Stock Exchange. This purchase
representing approximately 1.7 per cent of the outstanding common shares of
Falconbridge was made for investment purposes. Noranda now owns 97,154,980
common shares (approximately 55 per cent) of Falconbridge.
