Funny, the more companies state that they will expense options, the more the market (and MSFT) go up. Citigroup thinks that 2003 will be impacted by 3 cents and the next 5 years by a total of 6 cents. That sure backs up what I've been saying about the temporary effect of options.

The numbers look extreme in some cases due to the huge move in equity prices over the past 10 years. Unless stock prices go up dramatically, options expenses going forward will be minimal. We're seeing numerous companies on a daily basis tell us that exact thing.

People getting all worked up about this options thing are blind to the facts, or bashing for other reasons. IMO, Dave

Citigroup (C) will expense options, according to a Reuters report. The financial services company expects 2003 earnings to be 3 cents a share lower than expected due to the expense, according to an internal memo cited in the report. During the next 5 years, earnings will be reduced by an estimated 6 cents a share. >>
