SPY withstood the first test of 130.43. I tend to think it is on course to 132.31 in the next two weeks. Been reloading AMD around 8. I don't think this earnings report matters as much as the visibility for the rest of the year. If Llano is launched and received in a similar fasion as Brazos, I will bet my farm on it all the way to the 2013 LEAP due date. Going forward, high end CPUs are going to niche segments such as hard-core gamers and high-performance workstations. The vast majority of the personal computing needs can be sufficiently satisfied by the Fusion APUs. With annual refresh of APUs, AMD will be a more agile and nimble player in the PC space. One of the biggest killer AAPL has is its yearly refresh schedules for all of its products. If AMD can keep APUs on a near annual refresh, it will take some INTC's process advantages out of the competitive equation. INTC is approaching a kind of 401K investment again. For long term value investment, I don't think there are many as good as INTC. I love people thrashing between the hypes. That's when you find true bargains. Got some AAPL for the prospects of a new HDTV business and a prospect of selling tons of custom made iPhones for the China market. There are more than 650 million cell phone users waiting for upgrade to 3G and 4G beyond. All surveys point to replacing NOK and dominating future China mobile market. As an OT note somewhat related to AAPL vis a vis China, CHU/CHA/CHL combo can do some good to your 401K in the next 3~5 years.
