John - (reponding from your posts on the INTS message board)

Yes, I think Vicor is a lot like Integrated Systems. They both have gone through a very ambitious new product development period. The payoff could be very big for both companies if they area successful. Both companies are making good progress on the new products. Both have very strong financials.

Yields have been improving on Vicor's second generation products. But these new products are going to take some time to really impact earnings and revenues. It can take six months and longer for design wins to go into production. The most important group of second generation products for telecom apps were only introduced last September.

Some good news. After postponing a plant tour for analysts a couple of times, Vicor is finally scheduling three days in February for three hour tours of their new plant. So they must feel they finally have something to show off. Management has been pretty quiet for awhile.

Also it was reported in the Eagle Tribune newspaper yesterday that Vicor was recently awarded $21 million in damages for patent violations by Reltec. Vicor has an aggressive legal program to defend its patents. This will set a precedent for other cases that Vicor is pursuing. Look at www.eagletribune.com and search the news archives for Vicor.

Also I noticed some of the other companies in Vicor's field are perking up. Power One (PWER) has just moved from $6 to $11 in just over a week. It looks like Vicor is pretty sold out also after some ferocious tax loss selling right up to the end of December. It is making a nice base. I think any good news could get the stock back to the mid teens pretty quickly.

There has also been a good discussion on Vicor on the Yahoo message boards.
