MILWAUKEE--July 14, 1998--Badger Meter, Inc.(AMEX:BMI - news) today reported record sales
and earnings for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 1998.
Net sales for the second quarter of 1998 were $36,430,000, up 6.8% from sales of $34,104,000 for the same period in the
prior year. Earnings rose 20.8% to $2,295,000 for the second quarter of 1998 from earnings of $1,900,000 for the
comparable prior period. Basic earnings per share were $0.63 for the second quarter of 1998, up 18.9% from basic earnings
per share of $0.53 for the second quarter of 1997. Diluted earnings per share were $0.59 for the second quarter of 1998, a
18.0% increase from diluted earnings per share of $0.50 for the second quarter of the prior year. |
