Digital Microwave Corporation Introduces XP4Plus, Advancing the XP4
Series Of Digital Radios

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Microwave
Corporation (Nasdaq: DMIC - news) introduces XP4Plus digital
wireless radio, offering enhanced features to the popular
XP4 radio system used worldwide for transmission of voice,
video, and data traffic in telecommunications networks. The
XP4Plus maintains the same universal radio architecture that
has established the XP4 as a reliable, low cost solution for
network infrastructures.

The principal feature of the XP4Plus is its high-power
option, an ideal solution for applications requiring
increased availability over longer path lengths-even at
higher frequencies. Additional features of the XP4Plus
include increased reliability, calibrated receive level
range of -80 to -30 dBm, and ETSI Grade B compliance for
23 to 38 GHz E1 and E3 products. The XP4Plus is fully
backward compatible with the XP4 product line and is
available in frequencies from 7 GHz to 38 GHz for E1, E3,
DS-1 and DS-3 data rates.

``We are pleased to offer XP4Plus in response to telecom
network providers requiring greater reliability over longer
path lengths,' said Charles Kissner, Digital Microwave
Corporation's Chairman and CEO. ``XP4Plus underscores our
commitment to apply enhanced technology to augment the quick
deployment and cost-effectiveness of the radio solution.'

The XP4Plus Series is intended for use in networks requiring
quick and easy installation, lowest-possible network life-
cycle costs, and flexibility of transmission capacity and
frequency bands. Applications include PCS/PCN microcell
fixed-network infrastructure, last-mile connections for
local telephony, cellular back-haul interconnections, and
private networks for government, educational institutions,
banks and commercial organizations.

Along with Digital Microwave Corporation's Altium(TM), DXR
and DART families of radios, the XP4 radios will be
displayed and demonstrated in the Digital Microwave stand,
Number 1130.048 in the USA Pavilion at Telecom 99 in Geneva,
Switzerland, October 10-17.
