Elva's VocaliD Technology Introduced To The e-Banking Sector
With Recent Presentation At The Internet World France Exhibition
DANVILLE, Calif., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 21 in Paris, France, during the annual event of the San Paolo Bank's French subsidiary, Elva's (OTC Bulletin Board: EVAI - news) VocaliD smart card was introduced as a future smart card for secure banking over the Internet.
More than 400 VIPs, representing investment companies, most of them San Paolo's clients, attended this event that took place at the Palais Brongniart, the former Paris Stock Exchange.
Unveiling its new Web site, San Paolo Bank demonstrated Elva's VocaliD smart card-based secure access to its b-to-b e-banking services. Several prototypes of VocaliD smart cards were used with different kinds of PCs connected to San Paolo's Web site and fitted with simple microphones. Guests saw for the first time a smart card transmitting audio dynamic passwords over the Internet.
According to Elva's Managing Director, Serge Parienti, ``This event was the first occasion to prove to a financial community, in practical terms, that a VocaliD-based credit card can offer secure access to e-banking services. Imagine that your bank's next generation credit card is fitted with the capability to generate cryptographic random access codes and transmit them through any PC or telephone. Your bank is thus able to offer you a universal and secure access to its whole range of services, from payment in real life to e-banking from anywhere. San Paolo is one of the first European banks that want to catch that idea. Elva intends to offer that new model to any bank in the world in year 2001. We think for instance that American banks could be highly interested in turning their magnetic stripe payment cards into secure e-tools without any dependence on smart card readers or off line protocols that characterized chip card-based models so far.''
Elva announces that the first San Paolo's e-banking VocaliD smart cards will be available by Q1, 2001. They will first be issued to clients who attended the November 2000 show.
Elva, Inc., is the owner of VocaliD, the next generation smart card technology supplying secure online accesses and transactions from any phone set or computer without requiring card readers. A VocaliD smart card transmits pseudo-random audio sequences in order to guaranty highly secure authentication at each use, from any place in the world. VocaliD is also a standard format card that meets any magstripe-based payment and loyalty infrastructure requirements while being compliant with major traditional chip card-based technologies.
