I would think an increase in CO2 is great in the short run for food production, because we'd get a lot of extra plant growth. But if it keeps rising, then it may not be so great. For example, the acidification of the oceans will kill off sea life. In addition, it will lead to ocean level rises, which will inundate coastal areas where 80% of the world's population lives. Not good. Very costly.
