Interesting discussion on this topic. One that I have been struggling with myself.

I grew up in Chicago, lived in Indiana 20 years and now in CA for 13 years.

In Indiana before my little brother passed away from Leukemia, he was engaged to a girl whose father was an engineer at Purdue University as a profession but a pastor at heart. So he started a church in his house and they eventually built a small church and he continued to pastor it in his free time for almost 10 years. But the congregation didn't like that he wasn't available 24/7 so they voted him out of the church.

When I moved to LA 13 years ago, I worked for an HVAC company and we did work in the Malibu and surrounding areas. I personally met Pat Benatar's husband Spider as he introduced himself to me in their recording studio on their property, shook hands with Eric Benet (ex husband of Halle Berry) after I fixed his A/C, worked on the summer home of a member of NCIS, talked to Tom Laughlin (Billy Jack) right before he passed away after I fixed his heater. Not to mention other very successful businesses men and women who lived in really nice houses/mansions. BTW Kurt Russell's mom was the sweetest person I have ever had the privilege of talking to as she shared memories of what it was like growing up in the movie business.

Now I live in Fresno CA and the company I work for does the HVAC work for a big church in town, and I just got done doing the maintenance on the 4 pastors houses and all of them are bigger than myself or any member of my family has lived in and one of them was more lavish than any house I had been in when I was working in LA.

Now I just scratch my head and say HMMMMM........
