I ran the MSFT program and it is now complete. Nothing has come up as infected via this scan. Thanks so much to you, Stock Bull, and to Ian and Cheeky for the advice. I inadvertently clicked on that spam site I guess to the extent I can remember, and I certainly would not have hit the "start protection" button. I figured something fishy was up, that why I asked you folks.
