Tim,

You dug up my message of September 2010 and responded to it. I appreciate the info you provided about your experience. I have concluded that AVAST is OK for my modest needs and am not using MSE. Weekly, prior to cloning C: drive, I also run SpyBot and Malware. This routine has proven to be effective (at least so far).

I am a long time devotee of XXCLONE and find it meets my needs in a simple and straightforward manner. I have at least 3 complete clones of C: drive at any point in time stored on extra PATA drives with each cloning about one week apart. If worse came to worst, I could just boot from one of these clones and be back up and running in a matter of minutes.

My good news is that the originator of XXCLONE is working on a version that will work with Windows 7 so when I eventually switch over to it my backup routine will not have to change a lot.

Such is life. . . . .

Dick
