also, microsoft is much more of a household name than intel. dad, mom, and the kids see "microsoft" emblazoned on all their software packages, but they don't dare peek inside the computer to check the logo on the cpu -- of course intel made a brilliant move when they started putting those "intel inside" logos all over the place. companies that are household names tend to have more expensive stock, as there is greater awareness of the stock for someone who has no experience in investing.
