Just as I believe there are some libs who believe in their old axiom of "helping people", I am sure there were some Chinese who were sincere in their efforts to help their people or perhaps help themselves. It seems that our commies here are the ultimate capitalists when it comes to self.

I seriously doubt if Xi is genuine. The atrocities speak for themselves. Deng may have been just as I believe that Donald J Trump was sincere in "helping the people". The system turned against him. There are powerful forces within institutions to preserve the status quo. It happens everywhere, the CDC, the AMA, The Catholic Church. Many charitable institutions have turned against their core philosophy. It takes strong leadership, internal controls and a majority of people doing the right thing. Money and power can pervert even the nest of intents.

The CCP is not sitting around singing Kumbaya. They believe in human rights that are given by the government and can be taken away (if your social code isn't up to snuff).

In observation of history, it seems that we shift between political poles of tyranny and anarchy. Human nature makes it extremely difficult if not impossible to maintain either of those extremes. The farther left or right we go, the greater the pull in the opposite direction. Our founders understood this better than anyone and attempted to institute controls on government at the same time attempting to safeguard human rights. By current measure we are failing and the China offers no such safeguards. The CCP is evil and unleashed a plague on us either intentionally or by accident.
