This is a view of palm trees in front of the Santa Monica Beach Club. They were planted years ago in memory of the club’s founders. Some bureaucrat in the Coastal Commission discovered they were planted without a permit. It’s unclear whether a permit was required all those years ago because no one can find anything that says a permit was required. That’s not going to stop the Coastal Commission. They have ordered the club to remove the trees because they don’t have a permit for them.
