I see no way for our divide in the country to improve except for the dems to win and dominate like they did in th e30's and 40's. Because the dems believe in and use science in their social planning.

What you are seeing in this historical division between left and right is essentially science versus myth. There is no way to compromise on science. Something either is or is not true, or probable.

That is why scientists almost totally avoid the Republican party. They know evolution is real, global warming is real, social science is real, income inequality is real, the war on women is real, the war on gays is stupid as they are born that way and society needs to make a place for them, racism is stupid; and they understand the science that is necessary for a civilization to thrive e.g. what it takes to have a healthy society.

We have a historical argument going on between science and reason; and myth (religion) and primitive culture, just as we have had since civilization was birthed.

So how can those who believe in science and reason compromise? We went through this in the 17th century when science pulled us out of the Dark ages. The time when science rose to dispel incorrect ideas is called The Age of enlightenment".

And in the end science always won and will win again, if we do not destroy ourselves first.

The level of political discourse in Washington has to improve. We (as citizens and voters) have been divided and subdivided to the extent that we probably couldn't even reach a meaningful consensus that the sun rises in the east. If we don't stop ringing the division bell in this country we're not going to fix anything.....and we've got some major issues to solve. This country is in serious need of some unity
