Boo! Hiss! The French left us in the dust long ago in many areas. For example, they derive 80-90% of their electricity from their own nuclear power, so they don't have to kiss any sheik's toes. Ever heard of Minitel? The French were doing online banking and other transactions years before any American ever knew what a modem was. The former leader of the French Communist party lived in a huge chateau. They always had a slightly different view of socialism. Of course, they are reluctant to give up their six weeks of government-subsidized vacations. You would be, too! Le Beachbumm
