I agree with a lot of what you wrote. There is speculation there could be trouble for the "big guy" and his buds in other western countries if one of the worlds most efficient money laundering nations falls into the hands of an uncooperative Russian dictator.

All speculation aside, it could be just that simple?

Capitalism works in nearly every country on Earth..........Cuba and NK being two of the last holdouts.........regardless of political ideology or authority. China perfected the art of trade for their own national best interest, and that same opportunity has been offered to all comers. To Leftist Western elites, Putin is persona non grata, but they'll use him if it comes to increasing power for themselves and their own countries.

Why Russia and Ukraine signed the Minsk Agreement is beyond me. Neither one has lived up to their end of the bargain.

So we have 20th century war in the 21st century and citizens world wide are shaking their heads and have to be thinking to themselves.............there is a better way........... these guys are acting like nothing but a bunch of neanderthals.
