Nomention here of us but it doesn't matter. We are "THERE"!
>>The relative success of ICTV and WebTV in their different target markets -- cable companies and consumers, respectively -- suggests that most of the technology kinks blocking mass delivery have been addressed. The remaining obstacle for this nascent industry, then, is content. "If Hollywood and the cable companies don't produce content for the interactive TV environment, then there's nothing these companies can do," says Sean Kaldor, an analyst at IDC, an IT research firm.

A key part of this content will be interactive applications. Some will be PC-like applications, like CD-ROM games and email. Others will be especially developed for interactive TV; for example, someone watching a baseball game on broadcast television will be able to open a window showing a player's historical statistics taken from a Web site. It is this emerging space that may prove to be the "sweet spot" for developers and their investors as more people opt to equip their televisions with Web-enabled set-top boxes. "As companies move into content licensing, there will be huge revenue possibilities," Mr. Kaldor says, estimating that more than 23 million homes will use interactive devices with their televisions by 2002. <<
