>>to women shopping is a form of escape, a way to get away from things, everyday things. Shopping on the internet does not take you away<<

Howard Shultz, Starbucks CEO, recently said that "the Internet is the death of distance." IMO it will only take creative, imaginative measures to bring more women shoppers online. Seems to me that there is a huge contingent of women using the Home Shopping Network. Online shopping could take you to a Paris fashion show or a Dutch bulb and seed distributor. Two way cable modems will allow interaction with far away places.

Women may also discover that shopping for a car online is a more satisfactory way to purchase. No condescending salesmen, no pressure.

The gist for GNET is to find ways to attract this market segment through existing and future emerchandise venues. I know little about women, but I know they use shopping as a form of entertainment; and the world of entertainment is just emerging on the web. Oh, and PA believes in ENTERTAINMENT!
