Just got back from a mall stroll. I try to do this every now and again, just to see what consuming America is doing. As you'd expect a few days before Christmas, the mall was packed. I'd never actually BUY anything at a mall, and regard people who shop there as idiots with more money than sense. Malls have the highest prices you'll find anywhere.

The only new things I buy are food. Otherwise, I'm strictly a thrift store and pre-owned kind of guy. Which makes me the greenest of guys. Want to save the environment? Buy USED stuff. Whatever damage it did to the environment in being made has already been done. The re-purchase saves you money and does no further harm.

I buy a new computer every few years, and am due one now - probably in January when they're trying to sell the gear left over from Christmas. I'm just buying upgraded parts from Newegg.

Anyway, in the mall stroll, the Apple store was packed. Microsoft had a booth in a central location displaying all their Windows 8 flavors, computers, tablets, phones, etc. You could find the Android competitors also on display. Wireless tablets and phones with touchscreens generate all the excitement now.

I don't even know if Intel competes in that space. Didn't see any "Intel Inside" stickers on any tablets or phones.
