April 21, 1999 Aguas Blancas Iodine Heap Leach Pads Under Construction

Lukas H. Lundin, Director of ATACAMA MINERALS CORP. ("the Company") is pleased to announce that construction of small scale heap leach pads is underway at the company's industrial minerals property near Antofagasta, Chile. This is part of the final step in the program to confirm the detailed technical parameters of starting the Aguas Blancas Project into its first operational phase as a heap leach iodine facility, producing 1,000 tonnes per year.
