Can anybody comment on the usefulness of Gigabit ethernet that mrvc will supposedly be first out with a product on.

From what I understand of ethernet in general, a gigabit speed would mean a maximum length of 25 meters for each segment of the network. This compares with 250 meters for 100 Megabit ethernet. Wouldn't the 25 meter restriction for the gigabit ethernet limit its usefulness? Also, it the above is true, does it mean that it will only be used in switched networks with only one user per segment?

Could somebody enlighten me on the subject? Thank you.
