I guess the elections results won't be known until this is over then, oh well what is another couple of three weeks.

The following letter to the editor of a newspaper in India captures that sentiment very well. It talks about a "permanent" caretaker government in India :

CARETAKER GOVERNMENT

Sir,
Fifty years ago, the elections to the first Lok Sabha for 462 seats were held on a single day. After 50 years, election to the 542 seats to the Lok Sabha are held every year for the last three years. This time, it is being held in five phases spread over a month.

Looking at the present scenario, in future elections will be held in 12 phases spread over 12 months. The people of the country will be content with a permanent caretaker government.
