J., you surprise me. Was there ever a “normal” war, with killings grounded in mutual respect? The start is always an “incursion” - and hatred and name calling quickly build up. With logic like this, the Geneva convention could NEVER be used. Nothing “abnormal” about about this war. Reasons for it have been building up for many years. There were plenty of warnings. Everyone with any curiosity about this issue was aware of them. It could have been prevented until the last minute - simply by implementing the Minsk accords, to which both sides agreed many years ago. Well, there is something unique — the possibly unprecedented in history degree of Western unity. I say Western - because, judging by the UN vote [to kick Russia off the human rights] — about 2/3 of the world’s population either abstained, or voted “No”. Oh yeah, one more thing is unique - the world has never been this close to possible annihilation. Over fkuking Minsk accords in Ukraine.
