Nukes are a hot button, but I think that technology is the eventual answer.

The atomic industry shot itself (and us) in the foot by being so sloppy in the early years of operation. France get 80% of it's power from nukes, and they also therefore have one of the lowest carbon footprints, too. The generate way less waste than the early US nukes. I recently heard that the amount of nuclear waste a person generates in a lifetime is about a 1/4 of a cup. Waste can now be turned into glass for storage.

In the US, we get something like 80% from coal burning generation plants.....the most polluting route possible.

wattya think, Rat?
