It's a definitional thing, you see. If Howard had lost with a good economy, that would have proved that the war was the important issue. But since he won, it proved that only the economy was the important issue. The thought that the majority of Australians might actually approve Howard's conduct of the war apparently did not cross the reporter's mind as a possibility, it seems.

In other words, heads I win, tails you lose.

Bias? Nah, no bias, nothing to see here, move along, move along.
