Kurt, Delphi had an AutoPC demo with a WAP connection to the internet. All the AutoPC's need a way to transfer data. The Clarion used compact flash cards. I don't remember what Visteon used. They all talk about the hope of using Bluetooth.

Clearly, the data rate on today's wireless connections (6 to 9 Kbps) is too slow for program transfers, especially if you are paying in cents per minute. Most of these devices have CD's, but they never mentioned using CD's for anything but playing music. I guess they must be usable for downloading programs? They all talk about incorporating Sega Dreamcast, which might mean Win CE is not a very usable gaming platform?

Also, Delphi seems to compete for GM contracts. They claim they have no special ins to supply GM. Maybe Sony will have a AutoPC of their own? Anyway, I've never seen Sony as a power player in Internet, or wireless phones.

Regards,

Mark
