I was an Apple shareholder for about a week earlier this year, and spent some time monitoring that thread. I know what you mean. It reminds me of once when I walked through the Kuwait airport during the war between Iran and Iraq. Groups of people, who I was told were Iranians preparing to return to their country to fight, were chanting and generally carrying on, presumably to build courage for what was ahead.
