when you are snowed in, stuck inside, and can't hike,

Nevah gonna happen.
We are already planning trips to the sun. And about ready to switch to studded tires for the season.
:o)

I know what you mean about socialism. I did take courses in Soviet History, Soviet Govt, Soviet Geography, Soviet military, Soviet expansion and the reasons, European geography, European Govt, European history and etc. Also several courses on comparative govt. and related topics. And of course American History and some military courses on our military history.
Geez I forgot about all that stuff until I just wrote it down.

The best ed I got was nearly 11 years overseas in 26 countries...The area studies courses before deployments were very helpful and enabled a nearly instant understanding of what was going on wherever we went.

I think it is very important to know the history of socialist govts and how they evolved. That is a subject that I have always thought should be mandatory in high schools and Universities.

Every American kid should have to read, The Manifesto as written by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels, The Rise and Fall of The Roman Empire and The Third Reich. Every kid should have to read the Little Red Book to learn about Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong thought or Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, and now every kid should have to read Muslim writings and study everything their extremist leaders have said.

"Know your enemy" is critical to winning any conflict.
