I think it's more an apt description to point out that the Admin. *ignored* expert and top military advice all along (from even before the war in Iraq), firing or retiring many leaders who had the temerity to disagree with the 'neo-con' world view and the public spin the admin. was selling.

They have done this for nigh-on to five years now... (so why should anyone be surprised if and when they finally arrive at someone who won't, er..., disagree all that vehemently</i. with them in public? :-(
